Egpytian Campaign 2009 Judges Packet

Egyptian Campaign 2009
Judge Procedures and Guidelines

On behalf of the attendees, and staff of Egyptian Campaign 2009, I thank you for giving your time and effort for our convention. Without you, our judges, Egyptian Campaign would not be the success it has been year after year.
Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the updated judging procedures and guidelines below--it will go a long way towards making this convention run as smoothly as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to approach a staff member or myself with them.
Thank you, and I look forward to bringing Egyptian Campaign off successfully and enjoyably for all involved.

Joseph Lenox
Egyptian Campaign Co-chair
Judge and Event Coordinator

Due to a rising number of cancellations without sufficient notice, the Egyptian Campaign Committee has decided that we can no longer have completely open volunteer system for accepting game slots from out judges. To reduce the number of cancellations and to better serve our attendees and you the judges, we have introduced some new policies. The policies listed below are those directly related to addressing the cancellation problem. We look forward to working with you to resolve these issues.

Those judges who have not provided sufficient notice to the Egyptian Campaign Committee to provide a “Substitute” judge or game in their slot, fail to show up to judge their slot, or who fail to inform Event Headquarters before abandoning a low attendance game will be places on the Egyptian Campaign “no-show” list. Individuals on this list will only be allowed to register to judge one game and receive the five-dollar discount the following year this list will be reviewed yearly based on the current performance.

1.) Cancellations: Some games do not attract enough players to have a good game. The vast majority have enough players, the may simply be running late. If a game has a few players signed up, go to your table, set up, and wait at least 10 minutes for your players. If you do not have enough played by then, go to Event Headquarters (located in Ballroom A) and they will attempt to find you some players. Give the game another 10 minutes once you get back to your table. If you still do not have the players after that, notify Event Headquarters (located in Ballroom A) before abandoning the game. Pack up, jump into a new game, shop the dealer’s tables, play a demo, or paint a figure.

2.) Event Headquarters: So that we can better match players who need a judge to judges who need players, all judges are required to check into Event Headquarters (Ballroom A) before each slot. Check in requires you to pick up a judging packed. If for reasons of property you are unable to leave your table to check in, please have a player or other volunteer check you in by picking up your judging packed from Event Headquarters. Each judging packet will contain player and judge evaluations. The player evaluations can be used to determine a winner for your event (who gets the prize). The judge evaluations will be used to provide feedback for you, the judge, to determine the winner of the Best Judge of the Convention Award. After your game has ended, please return the completed judge evaluations to Event Headquarters (Ballroom A).

Prizes will not be delivered to games where the judge has failed to check in.

Unfortunately, every year we have a small percentage of our judges cancel events due to various unavoidable reasons. We try and cover most with local judges. However, there are always a few games or unexpected last-minute cancellations that we are unable to cover. If you were hoping to play in one of these unavoidable cancelled games, you have our deepest apologies and our promise that we will work harder each year to attain the goal of 0% cancellations. Thank you for your understanding and for attending our convention, after all, it is for you that this convention is held.
